FSX Gamespy fix

Gamespy was a great way of bringing new players into our communities. Without it multi-player will die.

It is in all our interests to promote our session page in as many places as possible. Since Gamespy has gone I have seen some people promote just promote their own site. People are searching for replacements for Gamespy and everyone is saying join my session and linking to their own web site. This is a dead end folks and will kill multi-player.

Gamespy was attractive as it lets players try different sessions. I fly in lots, and I'm sure most of your pilots do as well. You will each get more players if you embrace this thinking.

For hosts I've added a new script for you to paste into your own web sites. Go here http://www.fsopen.co.uk/downloads/fshost/#scripts
and the link will be customised for you.

The more people that click your link the higher up your session will be listed. It's a win win situation.

You can ask your own members to publicise the link on your behalf, on their own web pages, facebook, emails or whatever.

Basically, the more you advertise our sessions the more chance we have of saving multiplayer and the higher up your session will be.

Brilliant Dave!

We will be supporting this fully posting the link where sensible and clearly visible for all. I hope everyone pick up the thread and share the traffic for the whole community's sake, we experience huge and warm support from our users folks, they still want us to be on-line and we will be there for them, help every host and users by participating in this system, so our users still can have the same variety as they had.. We are many but it will take some time before everyone gets around i guess after this downfall. Looking forward to see new users on our servers and also peaking by new servers iv`e never been to! Catch you guys out there c",

Kind Regards;

Thanks Kenneth, I see your session has jumped to the top of the list so you must be going mad!!!

Currently we have 100 players on line so I think we're doing something right.

Hi Guys,

This looks like a great idea! Boston Virtual ATC, another FSX multiplayer community, has put together a similar website which offers an explanation of what is available. I see an opportunity for us to connect and try to find a way to promote both of these causes in one place.

One of the BVA administrators will reach out to you directly Dave (dave@fsopen.co.uk, right?). We'd love to be able to feature FSOpen prominently on the new site as a "second GameSpy" -- we just need your help with how to frame that message. We'd also love a second set of eyes to make sure the content is as fair and informational as possible.

Dave, please keep an eye on your inbox and let us know if there's a way that we can work with you. As you say, it is in all our interests to promote ourselves as much as possible. If we do our own thing and link to our own websites we go nowhere.

Sorry for the delay in replying, been partying and sailing. Finally warmed up enough to type so here goes!

Jesse, sent you an email. Should be able to sort you out if you reply to it.

Hunter, Found bva emails in my spam folder. Sorry I missed it but I'm getting lots of requests at the moment as you can imagine. Feel free to link to FSopen but I do not want to get involved with a site with an obvious bias. FSopen used to have our own session but our hosting software only really took off when we came truly independent. Good luck anyway and please pass the message on to Evan.

I have upgraded the video driver on Jesse's server and it seems to have fixed the problem.

Jesse, thanks for the link on your web page, it looks fantastic. Check out westcoasthops.com
