More suggestions - Squawks and the radar

A squawk of 7600 or 7700 has the same affect as an Ident code and the tag goes Red

A squawk of 7000 Removes the data tag of an aircraft so it is simply just a grey square displayed in order to simulate primary radar

Like the idea of a form of attention-getter for the 75/76/77 squawks.

Not sure about the 7000 idea. You'd never completely suppress the data block of real 7000 squawks to look like non-squawkers (primary only returns) but it's not uncommon to temporarily filter them out or reduce the "7000" numbers to say "V" or "VFR" to reduce label clutter.

What's the reasoning behind the request mate?

Good good!

First thing is first, my technical knowledge is terrible on this, and therefore I apologise in advance for any frustration :p

As for the VFR removing data block, I sat, for quite some time, to think about how the FSX radar could be improved to aid the understanding of radar for RA Students. It was promoted after playing around with another radar system for another network. Thou shall not be named. On this, I have my Edinburgh or Glasgow Approach radar aligned to Mode Charlie Simulation, when an a/c coming from OUTCAS, often light and VFR, is approaching the data block appears as some kind of PSR Reflection:

(+) -/-

Once assumed and correlated, the aircrafts squawk is then aligned with the callsign on the display and a datablock is formed on the tag:

(*) G-BCRS/C172
032 ^ 110

(I forced the speed to be displayed on my radar, I’m therefore not sure if this would appear on standard PSR/SSR Combined tag)

I then used a SMR down at Heathrow, this forced the radar to operate on Sierra, and the data I normally see on FSX was there for every aircraft on the ground.

What would be good, I THINK, is if there is an easy fix, to which this is, I THINK, to add a tiny bit of realism for radar approach controllers at the standard radar units!
As I said I apologise for frustration! Don’t make it too long ;)

??? Umm. I'm just a biff mate. I'm not sure I have any clue what it all means but I'm thinking a picture would paint a thousand words - or a chat over the weekend on TS (if I get a chance). :) M
